Man arrested in pipe attack

An Idaho Falls man was arrested after he allegedly hit another man with a pipe.

Idaho Falls police said Monday that David A. Weninger, 44, hit a 55-year-old man with a copper pipe, knocked him down and struck him several times with the pipe on the 400 block of A Street.

Police arrested Weninger and found he had marijuana. They said he became agitated and kicked an officer several times.

According to court records, Weninger is charged with domestic battery without traumatic injury, possession of a controlled substance and resisting officers, all misdemeanors, and felony aggravated battery with use of a deadly weapon.

He was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.
