Pair arrested in break-in of relative’s home

Two people are in custody after police said they broke into a family member’s home while she was in the hospital.

The Bannock County Sheriff’s Office said Matthew J. Howell, 51, and Francine M. Howell, 55, were arrested Tuesday around 6:30 p.m. on charges on unlawful entry.

Police say the two broke a window to get into a relative’s home in Downey while she was gone.

Another family member tasked with keeping an eye on the house called police saying they were not allowed to be there.

Police say when they arrived, Matthew Howell became verbally combative and charged officers.

He was Tased before being taken into custody and faces the additional charge of resisting and obstructing.
