Portneuf holds free screenings this month

The Portneuf Medical Center Physical Medicine facility will be conducing free screenings this month as part of National Better Hearing and Speech Month.

The hearing test is very short and anyone can have it done. The facility is also conducting language and speech screenings for younger children. All three tests will last about 15-20 minutes.

Annie Grimmett, speech language pathologist with the facility said it’s important to do the screenings to find out if kids are developing normally. She said it’s important to detect the problems early before they become habits.

“They’re under-educated about those kind of things that are going on so they get the intervention for their kids a little bit too late so hopefully with the screenings we can bring out awareness.”
