Man who lived with bodies wants record cleared

A Rexburg man who lived with the decomposed bodies of his wife and daughter has asked a judge to clear his name.

In 2004, police found the bodies of Laura Kaneko and Lorraine Kiyoe Kaneko at their home near Rexburg. Autopsies say they died of starvation and illness.

Kenichi David Kaneko was convicted of involuntary manslaughter. He was sentenced four to 10 years in prison in 2007, along with a six-month mental health rider program.

He has since completed the program and probation.

Kaneko filed a request in 7th District Court on Wednesday to clear his record.

Kaneko told police the women were following divine revelation that required them to follow a restricted diet and be in complete isolation. It was so Laura could marry an apostle.
