Shelley organization talks online safety for kids
A Shelley organization called KidsEmail is working to make the internet a safer place for children. KidsEmail CEO Jacob Andersen and Marketing Director Brittany Oler have worked to give parents control over their kids online safety.
“Some may call it an invasion of privacy, but others call it good parenting,” said Oler.
Oler has two children of her own and said she tries to instill good online behavior in them. She said KidsEmail is the perfect tool for parents to use if they want to monitor their kids online activity. Parents can receive copies of incoming and outgoing emails from their children’s email accounts and can also control what emails those children can receive.
“Kids today need access to the internet and technology to be successful, but we need to make sure they are safe while doing it,” said Oler.
Talk Radio Host and Family Counselor Dr. Laura Schlessinger said the biggest threat to children on the internet are children themselves.
According to the Department of Justice, 1 out of every 25 children received an online sexual solicitation in which the solicitor tried to make offline contact.
