Eastern Idaho pets flee from fireworks

While fireworks may be fun for humans, animal experts say they can be terrifying for pets.

This week the Idaho Falls Animal Shelter has been flooded with 10 to 15 dogs that officials believe were fleeing from fireworks.

The shelter said it’s best to keep pets inside – away from fireworks.

“Find a safe, secure place like your basement. Someplace where they aren’t going to try to dig out or do something. Someplace where they can get underneath like a bed. If they’re crate-trained, put them in their crate, and place soft, mellow music for them,” said shelter director Irene Brown.

Brown said most of the dogs that fled to the shelter this week have been reunited with their owners.
