Deputies: Woman raped in truck
A Wyoming man was arrested north of Rexburg after he kidnapped and raped a woman, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said.
Leal Hemmert, 36, was served a search warrant for his tractor-trailer rig parked just north of Rexburg around 8 p.m. Sunday after deputies went to 1272 North Yellowstone Highway on a domestic violence call.
They found a 32-year-old woman being held against her will in the sleeper cab.
Deputies said the woman had been in the truck for several hours and was physically and sexually assaulted.
The woman was from Idaho, but not from the Rexburg area. The sheriff’s office said Hemmert had talked her into meeting him in Rexburg.
She was taken to Madison Memorial Hospital for observation.
Hemmert was booked into the Madison County Jail on one count of kidnapping and one count of rape.
