Emily Valla

A Boise native, Emily is delighted to be a daytime anchor for Local News 8.

Emily was previously a weekend weather forecaster and news reporter for the station.

Emily comes to eastern Idaho via Southern California, where she graduated from Chapman University with a BFA in broadcast journalism and a BA in theater. She is proud to be an alum of Chapman News, which is the only live, weekly newscast out of Orange County, Calif. Emily applied her studies as a sports intern with KIVI Six on Your Side and Fox 9 in Boise. She enjoyed shooting high school football highlights at the schools where she used to attend games as a student.

When not on the news set, Emily enjoys directing for the stage. Emily’s passion for storytelling began when she was an apprentice at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, and carried her to an internship with Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles. Her favorite theater experience was serving as a member of the faculty at the Cherubs summer theater program at Northwestern University. Her two summers in Chicago have made her appreciate Idaho weather that much more.

According to Emily, the two best ways to spend a Saturday evening are watching a Shakespeare play or a college football game. She has been a diehard Boise State fan since her childhood days as a Bronco Buddy. Emily is thrilled to be at home in Idaho, where she loves to take advantage of all there is to do outdoors.

Emily would love to cover what is most important to you. She can be reached via email at emily.valla@localnews8.com.
