Blackfoot Pride Days kicks off

Are you looking to do something fun this weekend? Well, the city of Blackfoot has what you’re looking for.

The annual event has been going on for more than 20 years. It started as an event that was held with the city’s annual cleanup day, but now it has evolved into a city celebration. The celebration includes nearly two dozen vendors, an obstacle course, two water slides, mobile laser tag, a family carnival and much more.

“Every year it grows a little bit more,” said organizer Shirley Robinson.

Robinson said this year you can expect most of the usual traditions like free swim day and free fishing day. But you’ll also get to experience some new activities like sprint boat races and an after-dark race. Free entertainment is also coming back.

“I love going around and talking to the vendors and making sure everything is OK. Just knowing you’re putting this on for the community and kids are enjoying it and having fun is great,” she said.

Friday afternoon kids enjoyed several activities at Jenson Grove, even the activities that cost money.

“Just getting out and having fun. It is like, the only thing we have here. You have to be a little kid sometimes,” said Alexis Wise.

“I like the snowmobile races on the water because my brother-in-law races in them, so it is really fun to watch. I also like all the food and the camaraderie,” said Sequoia Dance.

The festivities continue Saturday with free airplane rides and the infamous snow- machine races. To see a full list of events, click here.
