Town makes way for new community center

The town of Moore started building its new community center Friday.

For the past five years, the Moore Community Association has been looking to build the center. Community leaders said that in the past, many events were hosted at a church or nearby schools. They said they needed a place for the community to come together, but construction of the new facility will also add a sense of unity to the town in this troubling economy.

“It’s really great to see something like this happen in our little community. We’ve lost several businesses in the past few years; strong businesses that have been here for a long time,” said Butte County Sheriff Wes Collins. “New ones have sprung up, but this is definitely one of the bigger projects that’s happened in the city of Moore for several years.”

The community association was able to make this possible through grants. The expense of labor was mostly covered through volunteers, which include the Idaho State Police. ISP wanted to give back to the community as part of its 75th anniversary.
