Educators lay foundation for IF Community College
The College of Southern Idaho is teaming up with Eastern Idaho Technical College to offer more classes and degree options for Idaho Falls residents. An associates in liberal arts, business and STEM or Science, Technology, Engineering and math are available for the upcoming Fall semester.
CSI has hired Josh Sakelaris as the director for the schools Idaho Falls Center. The college said it hopes to work with Idaho Falls students to provide associate options that have been lacking in previous years.
“A lot of those middle section students are kind of getting missed and that’s the gap that we want to fill so students can come in and get a really affordable education and take it wherever they want to go.”
CSI will offer not only its own major and core courses, but also those available at EITC. This was made possible from a appropriation from the Idaho Legislature. If this process goes well, the City of Idaho Falls is looking to establish a community college based on CSI/EITC concepts.
