Water main leak on First Street in Idaho Falls

Drivers are being asked to avoid First Street west of Holmes Avenue in Idaho Falls due to a water main leak.

Eastbound traffic between Higbee and Holmes was being redirected. Westbound traffic is still open past the work site.

The city said all businesses and access to businesses are being maintained.

“The public is advised to find alternate routes and avoid traveling this area, if possible. Crews are working on resolving the issue, and the eastbound lane will be reopened as soon as possible,” the city said in a statement Thursday morning.
