Chukars brawl, beat Ogden

Chukars manager Omar Ramirez and Ogden manager Jack McDowell could each be facing a three-game suspension after the two fought during the 10th inning at Melaleuca Field Tuesday night.

Benches cleared after Chukars pitcher Nick Green struck out Raptors DH Justin Chigbogu. Chigbogu walked back toward the batter’s box after heading toward the dugout, reportedly because Chukars catcher Pedro Gonzalez had something to Chigbogu. The brawl started when McDowell apparently shoved or punched Ramirez.

Eight total players or coaches were ejected after the fight. A total of 10 were tossed after Ogden pitching coach Greg Sabet was ejected in the 9th and Chukars bench coach Julio Bruno was tossed in the 15th.

The Chukars won in the 16th after Gonzalez lead off with a double to the deepest part of the ball park. Brandon Thomasson followed Gonzalez with a game-winning RBI double to right-center field.

The Chukars won 9-8 after 12:30 a.m. According to Ramirez, the bus for Grand Junction left before 7 a.m. Idaho Falls plays the Rockies at 7:05 p.m. in Colorado.
