New flavors in Idaho Falls

Restaurants that have opened in Idaho Falls recently have been more diverse in flavor. Here’s where you can find unique cuisine.

Tandoori Oven

3204 S. 25th East
11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday; 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday

The newest international restaurant in town is Tandoori Oven.

Classic Indian flavors make up the dishes here, with spices like turmeric and garlic.

Every item on the menu is made from scratch.

“We make our own yogurt, we make our own cheese, all of our drinks are homemade,” said owner Jantin Arora. “We always try something different.”

This location is the second for Tandoori Oven. The first is in Logan, Utah.

“We wanted to be in a community where people needed good authentic food, so Idaho Falls seemed to be an ideal market,” said Arora.

Thai Kitchen

752 E. 17th St.
11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday

Thai Kitchen was just voted Best Asian/Chinese by readers of Idaho Falls magazine.

For the two managers who are brothers, family is what’s behind the success.

“Honestly I really like the pad Thai,” said customer Aron Martin. “I think I agree it’s the best Asian food in town.”

Republic American Grill and Tapas Bar

355 River Parkway
11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

If you want to try new flavors in small doses, try Republic.

At Republic, tapas are entrees shrunk down to a sharable size.

“The premise is to order multiple small plates and share with your friends,” said chef and owner Joel Henry.

Henry said his restaurant has something for everyone, from seafood to “beer dough ale-wrapped goat cheese with cracked pepper honey.”

“The premise is to order multiple small plates and share with your friends,” he said.

Henry said small plates keep the dining social.

“They’re talking about the food, they’re talking about the beer, the art that’s on the walls.”
