Ross Park water slide may be up for replacement

The City of Pocatello is considering the future of the Ross Park Aquatic Complex water slide.

Stacie VanKirk, manager of the aquatic complex, said the public is safe, as the slide wouldn’t be open if it were unsafe. VanKirk simply said the slide is at least 30 years old, so there may be a need to replace it sooner than they planned.

The slide replacement is part of the 20-year Ross Park improvement plan, set to slowly change the Ross Park area in different ways over that 20-year period.

VanKirk said there is no time frame for replacement, but they will certainly make it a priority if it does show more serious wear and tear.

She took the opportunity to remind the public that if they do have safety concerns about any city facility, they should let officials know.

“If you’re at any one of our facilities and you see an issue, we just ask that you simply bring it to management’s attention,” she said. “Then we can address those concerns right away.”
