Snake River Landing Expansion
Several new businesses have come to snake river landing in the last few month, and more are on the way. The next groundbreaking will be for an eco-friendly hotel which will be located south of Stockmans restaurant. The hotel is just one way the area is keeping up with demand.
Friends Marlene Drewes and Carole Semenchuk took a break this afternoon to enjoy a treat at one of snake river landings favorite spots.
“This is our first stop. Of course now we have to walk off the cookies,” said Semenchuck
Just a few blocks down are the walking trails along the streams which were one of the first projects at this development back in 2006.
Chief development officer Eric Isom says so far the Snake River Landing has been a huge success.
“The hope from the beginning was to create a unique place, like places you’d see in other bigger cities but not like anything that existed in Idaho Falls,” said Isom.
Over the past few months, several new businesses have opened.
Different businesses mean a wider reach for the community.
“We really want try to focus on active lifestyles,” said Isom.
For people who live on the west side of town, they say Snake River Landing is the only place for them to shop and play and they want to see even more
“A theatre on this side of town. that would be really nice,” said Dustin Dunn who lives nearby.
Dunn comes here often and was a part of the original construction crew for some of the projects. He said construction stalled during the recession.
“I think that happened across the board, across the country really,” said Dunn.
But now that new businesses have come, and long time favorites like Bella Vita Coffee House, Buffalo Wild Wings, Stockmans have come in Isom says it brings in more traffic.
More traffic to a side of town that’s happy to welcome it.
“To see everything going up is really nice. its coo,” said Dunn.
Bills Bike Shop is another store that moved into Snake River Landing.
Their bike rentals have been a popular way for people to get around the area.
