Pocatello Zoo gets help from local business

The Pocatello Zoo is not only hoping to continue maintaining current exhibits, but wants to bring a new exhibit for a threatened owl species.

Cory Coffman, curator of education, said the zoo is hoping to get funding to create a burrowing owl exhibit. She said the burrowing owl population is a concern, protected under the Migratory Bird Act.

“We would have a conservation habitat where we could teach people about the burrowing owls and then hopefully help with their conservation,” she said.

Coffman said the zoo is also a sanctuary for animals that would not be able to survive in the wild.
