More talk about Island Park possibly becoming a national monument

Sen. Mike Crapo met with the Fremont County Commissioners.

“The fact is, this is a very critical issue to the people of Fremont County and frankly to people all over Idaho. It is an issue that should be resolved in Congress, in terms of the land management issues of federal land, rather by the president with the stroke of a pen,” says Crapo.

Crapo also mentioned that that vast majority of people are opposed to making Island Park a national monument.

“The people recognize that you can have a strong, viable, resource-based economy and still preserve the beautiful rich environmental heritage we have here in Idaho,” says Crapo.
