Bannock County saves $1M

The Bannock County Commission and clerk said they are saving the county $1.1 million.

During the past five years, the Bannock County budget has increased nearly $10 million, or $2 million every year. But this year was the first county commissioners decreased the budget.

Robert Poleki, the interim county clerk, said officials hope to continue this trend.

“We don’t know what is ahead in 2016, so we’d like to keep a stable budget and continue to be fiscally responsible,” said Poleki.

He said the money saved will go into the county reserve fund.
