UI president wants to increase enrollment

Chuck Staben, the University of Idaho president, spoke at an Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce business luncheon Tuesday. He talked about how the school is contributing to the state of Idaho.

Staben said the university is giving away more scholarships, increasing online education and changing the way it does business.

“My biggest priority is to grow undergraduate enrollment,” he said. “The state of Idaho needs more college-educated students, and we can take a leadership role in that, and it will also help us in terms of enhancing the vibrancy of our campus and enhancing the financial sustainability in our campus if we enroll more students.”

Staben has been UI president for seven months. He previously worked for the University of Kentucky.
