Family fears missing IF man is dead

The Idaho Falls Police Department and Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a man who has been missing since Friday morning.

It was early Friday morning when James Wise’s brother, Tony, went to check on him.

“I walked in and I could see blood going across the living room,” said Tony. “I turned, looked and seen blood in the kitchen. I just went into a panic.”

With James and his car gone, Tony made the call to the Idaho Falls Police Department. After a couple of hours, officers found James’ car on Milligan Road next to the Snake River.

“We certainly are working closely with the family,” said Joelyn Hansen, with the Idaho Falls Police Department.

That triggered Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputies to search in the river.

“My understanding is they did use some sonar and some of that equipment to help search for anything in the river,” said Hansen.

Hansen said James is now entered into the missing person’s database.

“If somebody in law enforcement comes in contact with him in another jurisdiction, if they pull up his information, it will come up and say there’s an attempt to located him,” said Hansen.

Tony said his brother suffers from depression, even more so after the recent death of their father. He fears James may now be dead too.

“If you have a brother that’s kind of pulled a part from you, try to get them help,” said Tony. “Try to do everything you can, because once they’re gone that’s it. There’s no bringing them back.”

James’ mother, Sherry, said the little they do know doesn’t look promising.

“If he is gone, he’s in heaven with god,” said Sherry. “We just need to find his body, so that we can put him to rest.”

If you’ve seen James Wise or have any information, call the Idaho Falls Police Department at 529-1200.
