Man dies in crash near Ashton

One man died in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 20 near Ashton on Friday morning.

Idaho State Police said around 10:45 a.m., John Stevens, 79, of Ashton, was driving a 1999 Subaru Forrester eastbound when he left his lane of travel into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a 2002 GMC Yukon driven by Linda Egbert, 75, of Ashton.

Stevens was pronounced dead at the accident.

Egbert was transported to Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg.

One lane of the highway was blocked for two and a half hours while crews cleared the wreck.

ISP is investigating the crash.

Family members of Stevens say he may have suffered a medical condition leading to the crash.
