Anti-theft system displayed at irrigation show

More than 50 irrigation equipment manufactures, dealers, and distributors showed off their latest products and solutions at the Idaho Irrigation Equipment Show & Conference.

At the event at the Shilo Inn in Idaho Falls on Thursday, one company was displaying a products that prevents copper theft of irrigation systems using electronic surveillance.

“Our hardware uses the cellular network,” said Julie Upchurch, Netirrigate director of sales. “So as soon as it detects a break in the grounded neutral, it’s basically just detecting a circuit break. It uses the cellular network to send notifications, to up to 10 individuals, and those notifications can be sent in form of text message, phone call, and email. So as soon as it detects that cut, you’re going to get that alert right on your phone, right in real time.”
