Family artifacts give glimpse of life at Fort Hall townsite

A Blackfoot man is getting ready to show off his collection of artifacts recovered from his family’s former general store and service station at the old Fort Hall townsite on Highway 91.

Tuesday night he’ll be presenting an assortment of old photos, postcards of Pocatello, 1930s newspapers as well as a document signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

His great uncle, James Andrew Cornelison, opened the general store and service station in 1925, but it was sold after his death in 1975. Several years ago, Cornelison said he recovered the artifacts.

The presentation will take place Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Bannock County Historical Museum at Upper Ross Park in Pocatello.
