Only one fair to be held in Bannock County
Big changes are coming to the Bannock County fairs. There will be one fair only in the county this year.
Previously, there had been a north and south Bannock County Fair, but the county commissioners said the north fair had been failing for years.
They said the low turnout made them decide to only have the Bannock County Fair, which will take place in Downey.
“We just want people to know this is a positive thing for the community,” said Commissioner Howard Manwaring. “This is a marvelous thing for Bannock County to be able to use these two facilities in a better way then what they’ve been being used.”
The commissioners have renamed the fairgrounds in Pocatello the Bannock County Multi-use and Equine Center. They said they’re hoping to bring many horse events back to Pocatello’s fairgrounds.
