Boy on scooter hit by SUV

A child was hit by an SUV in Pocatello on Sunday afternoon.

Around 4:10 p.m., Richard E. Purin, 30, of Pocatello, was driving west on Mink Creek Road in a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder. John-Michael C. Hoyle, 9, of Pocatello, was riding a scooter down Cinnamon Ridge and rode onto Mink Creek Road, where Purin’s vehicle hit Hoyle, Idaho State Police said.

The boy was transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello. His grandmother emailed Local News 8 on Monday and said he was recovering from surgery on a broken leg but was going to be fine.

Purin and the others in the Pathfinder were wearing seat belts, said ISP.
