Give Kids a Smile Day in Pocatello

‘Give Kids a Smile Day’ is a national event sponsored the American Dental Association. Southeastern Idaho Public Health is working with Idaho State University and several other organizations locally are donating their time and services to make sure kids dental health is in good shape.

Families need to go to Idaho State University’s Dental Hygiene Clinic, 999 Martin Luther King Junior Drive (building 37). Services will start with a dental exam, and can include tooth cleaning, flouride varnish, sealants and oral hygiene instruction.

If restorative care is needed, there are over 20 dental offices offering those services for free.

“Last year, with the services we provided and the dentists provided,” said Tracy McCulloch, health promotion director for SIPH, “we provided over $65,000 worth of services to children in need.”

There are some eligibility requirements. Because this is targeted for families who have no insurance or are underinsured. Families do not need to be receiving Women, Infants and Children (WIC) benefits, but do need to provide proof of income, like a pay stub or last year’s taxes.

For more information and to schedule and appointment, call Dana Solomon at SIPH at 208-239-5256.
