Police: Strangers approached 4-year-old in church parking lot

Pocatello police are investigating after a mother says two men tried to grab her four-year-old daughter from a church parking lot.

It happened around 4:50 p.m. Wednesday at the LDS Church near South Fairway and Marigold.

Raushelle Goodin-Guzman said her daughter, Willow, was playing with some older friends when two unknown males approached in a white car. Goodin-Guzman said the passenger opened his door and tried to grab her daughter.

“I got — almost got kidnapped,” said Willow Goodin.

According to police, several other children playing in the area saw this and yelled, and the vehicle drove away.

The passenger was described as white and wore jeans and red glasses.

“It’s disturbing,” said Kaedin Yearsley, who lives nearby. “I haven’t even heard about it until now.”

The mother of the girl said she is doing all she can to warn others.

“I’ve already made sure that other parents around the area are aware, and a lot of us are just talking,” said Goodin-Guzman. “We’ve communicated with a few moms already.”

Police said they do not have further information at this time. They said they don’t have enough information to call this an attempted kidnapping.
