Man dies in snowmobile accident
A northern Utah man died in a snowmobile accident Saturday in Franklin County.
Just before 1 p.m. Saturday, theFranklin County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a snowmobile accident in the Franklin Basin area.Search and Rescue responded to theGibson Lake area, when they arrived they found 73 year-old Dennis Thompson ofSmithfield, Utah, had died.
According to the sheriff’s office, family members had seen Thompson climb a very steep hill in snowy conditions. Once he reached the ridge he continued on over the top, which was a steep drop off. It appeared Thompson’s snowmobile had struck a couple trees and came to rest about 60 feet below the ridge.
Family members immediately started CPR, but were unsuccessful in reviving him.
