Frank Church Symposium 2015 discusses ‘cross-cultural expression’

The 44th Annual Frank Church Symposium is happening at Idaho State University Friday and Saturday.

This year’s theme is ‘cross-cultural expression in a transforming world,’ with a keynote address at 7 p.m. on Friday by ISU alumnus CharlesMetcalf. Metcalf’s career included 38 years with the government as U.S. Army officer and as a civilian and contract employee of the Department of Defense. Metcalf is a survivor of the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon.

Morgan Pitcock, vice president of the International Affairs Council at ISU, said this symposium is a great opportunity to get worldly views into Pocatello.

“Each year the symposium topic changes, we try to mix it up, get different people in here,” he said. “But mainly it’s just to bring in different topics that people wouldn’t normally have access to, whether they’re students or community members. We just try to facilitate that as much as possible.”

All events are free to the public, and all panels take place on the third floor of the Pond Student Union Building in the Salmon River Suites. Parking in the general lot on the corner of 4th and Humbolt will be free on Friday. The schedule is as follows.
