Body of missing 2-year-old found

A missing 2-year-old boy’s body has been found after authorities and volunteers searched around the Snake River near Blackfoot

The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office said the body of Earnest Garcia was found in the Snake River.

Authorities and volunteers were searching for the boy since Friday evening near the Wadsworth Island area off of State Highway 39.

The sheriff’s office sent out a Code Red alert for the area which sends a recorded message to local phone numbers. A helicopter was assisting ground crews in the search. Most of the search and rescue operation was forced to scale back overnight early Saturday until sunrise.

Bingham County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation is continuing into Garcia’s death and wishes to thank the volunteers and residents in the area for their help.
