E. Idaho doctor returns to Nepal to assist in earthquake relief

Pocatello doctor Fahim Rahim departed Idaho Falls for Nepal Thursday afternoon in his second relief mission since a devastating April earthquake laid waste to the country and left hundreds of thousands homeless.

Rahim said he and his team of volunteers will have a harder time accessing some of the more remote villages due to the ongoing monsoon season.

“It really gives them hope knowing not only that there’s somebody else out there who’s watching out for them and helping them out,” said Rahim.

The U.S. Government pledged $130 million to the relief effort Thursday. Rahim said he and others have spent the last six weeks lobbying for this.
