Playing It Safe bears rewards

Subway and the Pocatello Police Department are teaming up for the second annual Playing it Safe Campaign.

Its aimed at recognizing young people who are playing by the rules.

Officers are rewarding kids they see who are wearing safety gear when riding their bikes and skateboards.

The prize is a gift card to any Subway location. The initiative is to help kids become more comfortable with law enforcement.

“You know there is always that little element of surprise, but what says everything to us is the big smile they get on their face, kids absolutely love it they like being able to talk with one of the officers, and then get a good handshake and then they get the reward,” said Lt. Ian Nelson.

The cards are worth $3. The campaign will last until all cards are given out.
