Groveland Road facing possible road closure

Groveland Road in Bingham County is facing a possible road closure again. This has been an issue since the late 1980s.

This time around, Basic American Foods has filed a petition with the Bingham County Commissioners to close the portion of Groveland Road lying between Highway 26 and Collins Siding Road.

Other business in the area say they are worried the closure will hurt them. They propose putting in a stop light instead of closing the road completely.

People who want it close say it’s one of the most dangerous intersections.

Karl Slayton with Agricultural Services says”we’re just totally against closing this portion of the road.”

“We don’t need to be directing farmers away from our establishment, we’d rather have more access than to limit their access to us.” Says Slayton.

He says he’s fed up, because this fight has been happening for decades.

“It looks to me like it’s just a simple solution: put a stop light in. and limit the access that way so people can turn on way or another without having to drive across that road.”
