Truck runs off road on Highway 20 near Rexburg

The Rexburg Police Department responded to the site of a crash Thursday night after receiving reports of a semi that had rolled onto its side near the southbound center exit for Rexburg.

Police arrived at the accident at about 7 p.m. and found a Freightliner truck and its trailer on its side just off the exit ramp. They determined that the vehicle drove off the the West side of roadway and struck a fence and a ditch which caused the truck and trailer to roll onto it’s driver side.

According to Captain Randy Lewis of the Rexburg Police Department, the driver of the vehicle, 37 year old Richard Johnson, had loaded the truck with frozen potatoes in Sugar City and got on the road. Johnson told Lewis that he doesn’t remember anything after that until he woke up in the ambulance.

Johnson was transported to Madison Memorial Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. He has been released from the hospital.

Johnson was operating the truck for Me & Brothers, Inc. out of West Jordan, Utah.
