Local hospital ranks first in critical care

Just a couple years ago, Lost Rivers Medical Center was on the verge of closing its doors for good.

Today, the hospital celebrates being ranked number one in the state of Idaho by the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers (HCAHPS) and Systems annual survey.

This comes as a huge victory for the hospital that provides personalized care in Arco for both Butte and Custer counties.

“”I feel like you provide better care when you the people, you know them you like them and they trust you,” said Shelley Rupp, Director of Operations.

In the last couple of years the hospital has worked hard to make the hospital special for every patient that comes through its doors.

“We can do those extra little things that every nurse wants to do but you don’t have that luxury of doing that in a larger hospital,” said Geri Cammack, Chief Nursing Officer.

Not only was Lost Rivers Medical Center ranked first in the state, nationally the hospital ranked 1st or 2nd in seven of the ten categories of the survey.

“It’s a reflection of the teamwork and the culture we have here as a group,” said Brad Huerta, CEO/Administrator of the hospital.

The hospital boasts several technologies and a family-like care setting for their patients giving them the technology and care they can’t find in larger hospitals.
