Man killed from jumping out of van

A man was killed when he jumped from the van he was riding in.

It happened on US Highway 20 near milepost 312, near the Lewisville highway exit at about 10:22 p.m. Tuesday.

Idaho State Police say the man was a passenger in the van and jumped from the vehicle while it was moving in the lanes of traffic. He was hit by three or four vehicles, they said.

The victim was Kirk Winward, 45, from Salt Lake City. His relationship with the driver has not been disclosed.

Although investigation continues, Idaho State Police believe the man was intentionally trying to take his own life.
