Hunter accidentally shoots himself after falling

One man is in the hospital, after falling on a steep hillside and accidentally firing his rife while hunting in Clark County, Wednesday.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office says they received a 9-1-1 call from a 30-year-old hunter in thePleasant Valley area.

The man was hunting deer alone and tripped on a steep hillside. When he fell, his30.06 rifle accidentally fired, hitting and injuring the man.

The Sheriff’s Office says the man had a cell phone and was able to call for help.

Air Idaho transported him to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was treated for a gunshot wound. The Sheriff’s Office says the man is expected to make a full recovery.

Sheriff Bart May wants to remind all hunters it is extremely dangerous to hunt alone and with a round in the chamber.
