Pocatello airport prepares for Skyfest 2017

The AvCenter at the Pocatello Regional Airport dedicated the A-10 airplanes Friday. Two of them flew in from Boise for the dedication ceremony.

Both Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad and Chubbuck Mayor Kevin England were there to help dedicate the planes to the Pocatello airport.

Airmen of the Idaho National Guard’s 124th Fighter Wing will eventually dedicated all 21 of them. The National Guard says they will fly overseas next summer.

“I was so impressed as they flew in. Some of the manuever ability of these machines is absolutely immense. It’s to the community. What a wonderful thing to recognize and know that we’re being honored. And at the same time, we have the opportunity to honor those men and women who are sacrificing so that we can have some the freedom we have,” said Mayor England.

For those who didn’t want to wait for the big plane show, Skyfest 2017, people were able to come out today to view these planes among others. The event was free to the public
