Ask a Nurse program at EIRMC gives parents advice after hours

A new program with Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC) is making it so parents can get expert advice about their kids health when the doctor is out.

The program is called “Ask a Nurse”, it’s a call line that lets parents call in and talk to a pediatric nurse.

“It’s been in the works across the nation for several years,” said Sue Bankhead, Director of Pediatric Services at EIRMC.

While many of us go online to get health advice, it’s not always the most accurate.

“Even I go online to look at things so you have to weigh the knowledge and see what’s there,” said Bankhead.

Parents can call the number from 5pm-8am during the week and 24 hours a day on the weekends and holidays.

The number is (208)497-6167.

The call-line is based out of an affiliate for the hospital in San Antonio, TX.

“We’ve been working with them and they understand what our services are here,” said Bankhead
