Still looking for answers 35 years later

It’s been 35 years since Randall Leach was reported missing. He was last seen in Idaho Falls walking away from a dairy farm on November 7, 1980.

Police say Leach was hitchhiking to his sister’s home in Bend, Oregon from Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. He left Wisconsin on November 1, 1980.

Oregon State Police were notified three months later he was missing on February 2, 1981.

Leach was 20 years old at the time of his disappearance. He was described at the time to be a white male, 5 foot 8 inches tall, about 140 to 160 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Oregon State Police said they have not received any information or confirmation that Leach had ever entered Oregon.

Police in Wisconsin were able to get dental records from Randy’s father and have been entered into the National Dental Image Repository, police said. By doing this, it makes the images available to all law enforcement agencies across the country.

Investigators also have DNA samples from family members. They were given to the University of North Texas, Center for Human Identification.

Bonneville County Sheriff’s office is working with Oregon and Wisconsin police to help solve the case. “No one has any idea what happened to Leach,” said Sheriff Paul Wilde, Bonneville County. “With many cases, we reach out to see if anyone has information and has decided to come forward,” Wilde said.
