Idaho gets an A in premature births

In an annual birth report card, a national advocacy group gives Idaho an A grade for its low level of premature birth rates. March of Dimes, a national organization dedicated to reducing the number of premature births, only gave out four A grades in 2015.

In order to receive an A grade, states must have a premature birth rate of 8.1% or less of all deliveries. Besides Idaho, only Vermont, Oregon, and Washington received A’s. 19 other states received B’s, 18 states and the District of Columbia received C’s, 6 states got D’s, and Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Puerto Rico were given F’s.

March of Dimes gave the United States as a whole a C grade, saying the nationwide premature birth average of 9.6% is too high. A link to the report and website can be found HERE.
