Green lights for vets

For this Veteran’s Day season, Wal Mart is sponsoring green lights for vets.

During this time, everybody in the country has been encouraged to place a green light bulb on their front porch of their house or apartment.

Bannock County Veterans Services Representative Melissa Hartman says it’s to show honor and respect for our veterans in the country for this Veteran’s Day. And the color green is to represent “hope and renewal” for our veterans making sacrifices for our freedom everyday.

She says people can go out and buy a green light bulb at Wal Mart for just a dollar.

“You can’t tell if the person who works in the hospital is a vet, you can’t tell if the person who’s working at Wal Mart is a vet….You can’t really tell. It’s really a diverse group. So, by green lighting a veteran, it makes it so that our community can stand up and say ‘hey, we’re supporting you,” said Hartman.
