Annual event brings holiday cheer to ISU
Idaho State University’s Union Program Council hosted the 5th annual Tree Lighting Festival Tuesday.
The event aims to bring a “home feel” to campus, particularly to students who can’t make it home for the holidays.
Held in the Pond Student Union’s ballroom, the event had a 25-foot fir tree, carolers and even had Santa Claus make an appearance.
While the festival’s become an ISU staple, it’s grown into a community affair.
“We have a lot of community members join us and it’s a great way for children to come to ISU to experience what we have to offer,” said Heidi Oliver, program coordinator for ISU scheduling and events.
The first 200 at the event received a silver ISU ornament.
