Black Friday background checks set record
Black Friday sales in southeast Idaho broke records this year.
Background checks for potential gun buyers also reached record highs.
The FBI reports that 185,345 background checks were performed nation wide with firearm sales on Black Friday this year.
That’s roughly two per second.
While a background check doesn’t necessarily mean a gun was purchased, manufacturers rely on the statistics as a measurement of the industry’s health.
One business CEO doesn’t think that trend will slow.
“I think the number is going to continue to increase,” Pete Italiano chief executive officer for Guns N Gear Sports said. “I don’t think its going to slow down anytime soon. I think there will be more international and local incidents that occur, that start to worry people about their safety, so I don’t think that’s going to go away anytime soon.”
Italiano also said his business sold 108 guns this past weekend.
