Bingham county state prison inmate dies in custody

The Idaho Department of Correction is investigating the death of Correctional Alternative Placement Program inmate Troy Blaine Watson, 47, Saturday.

Watson was serving a retained jurisdiction sentence from Bingham County for possession of a controlled substance.

Watson suffered an apparent seizure at the facility November 29. He told staff he had taken personal medication in a suicide attempt. He died at a Boise hospital with his family at his side Saturday morning.

The Ada County Coroner’s office is conducting an autopsy.

CAPP is a 432-bed male treatment facility located south of Boise. It is managed by the Management Training Corporation.
