Pocatello Regional Transit proposes route changes
You could be seeing some changes to the bus routes in Pocatello.
For the past five months Pocatello Regional Transit has held a public comment period to get input on possible route changes.
Based off the response they now have some ideas and they’re asking for the community’s opinion once again.
One change they want to make is to Route F.
Currently, Route F runs from Idaho State University through various stops on Fifth Avenue, and to Century High School. The proposal is that Route F would now be combined into Route D.
Another change will be all buses would make an hourly stop at Fred Meyer. This would allow riders to have a centralized hub to be able to change buses easily, if needed.
Each fixed route costs about $100,000 to $120,000 per year. The transit center said by combining routes it can help cut back operating costs.

Proposed Route Changes
Route A:Continues to serve all present stop locations, but the scheduled times for most stops are seven minutes earlier. This is to allow bus-to-bus transfers to Routes B, C, and E at Cedar/Pershing.
Route B:Discontinues stops along East Cedar, Randolph, Pocatello Creek, and Bench. Service to these locations will be by transfer at Cedar/Pershing to the revised E Route. Minor arrival/departure time adjustments will be at 7th Avenue to Yellowstone Avenue.Minor route adjustments at West Cedar-West Maple and Gould-Grant will be made for safety reasons.
Route C:No changes, except that the time schedule will be adjusted to allow transfers to Routes A, B, and E at Cedar/Pershing. The bus will leave Bench/Pocatello Creek and Cedar/Warren seven minutes earlier than the current schedule.
Route D:Combines portions of the former E and F routes to serve one-hour headways along South 4th/5th Avenues, Old Town, Westwood Mall, and East Side stops between Maple and ISU. (Locations served by the former Route D will be served by Routes A, C, and E, with the exception of Hiline Road from Pocatello Creek to Quinn.)
Route E:Revised to combine East Bench locations served previously by D and E Routes, including PMC and HHS, and to connect these with the other core routes at Cedar/Pershing and ISU Student Health.
Route F:The former Route F is incorporated into Route D.
Seasonal Routes:Seasonal Routes C-Tripper, G, H, I, and J remain as scheduled.
