Million dollar marijuana shipment stopped near Laramie

Two men were arrested Saturday after a traffic stop west of Laramie, Wyoming with 292 pounds of marijuana.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says a trooper stopped a U-Haul rental truck for speeding near mile post 292 on eastbound Interstate 80, about 18 miles west of Laramie. A drug dog was called to the scene and alerted to the presence of a controlled substance in a couch in the back of the truck.

Marijuana had been stored in several items of furniture.

Jia Jun Yu, 41 of New York and Kwok Lun Chow, 48, of San Francisco, California were arrested. Both men were charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and felony conspiracy to deliver.

The marijuana has an estimated street value of $1,068,000. Investigators believe it originated in Seattle, Washington and was destined for New Jersey.
