The value of clean through art

The Museum of Clean in Pocatello wants to show you how to clean in a very, unconventional way.

The museum is decorated with old and new souvenirs that represent “clean.”

But it’s not the process of cleaning, it’s the state of actually being clean.

“I’ve been in the cleaning business for 60 years. I want to sell clean. We’re talking about the value of clean. Not how to clean as a process, but being clean. Clean arteries, clean language, clean glasses. Anything clean is beautiful. So we did this through the value of a museum. People love museums,” said Founder of Museum of Clean, Don Aslett.

Aslett even has his own orchestra of clean – the things that represent the nature of being clean.
Little statues of ghandi, aliens, the notorius and mysterious big foot himself, and there’s even one that represents Aslett cleaning. But no matter what, all of them are involved with some kind of cleaning items.

“Well spring cleaning, that’s an old way of taking out the mattresses, but Fall is the best time to clean. You get dirt in the house from the whole summer – you should get it out in the Fall, like october or november. Your house, your carpets, everything’s clean. You clean in the spring – your house is full of dirt. Spring cleaning is an old wise tale.”

There’s even an art gallery filled with paintings and designs from local artists. And different things for people of all ages to experience at the museum. Aslett says art cleans the mind, as cleaning is beautiful.
You can call it a spiritual outlet, a refreshing start, or just a unique way of “cleaning” the body and mind.

“What surprises people is, people come in here expecting a little 2,000 foot museum like you see the museums around. They walk in this 80,000 square foot place – this whole city block. There’s nothing like it in the world…right here in pocatello.

The museum is open to the public tuesday through saturday. The museum features numerous pieces of art with a message…Inspiring you to keep yourself and the enviroment clean.
