Snow removal survey results are in: So whats the next step?

After the February snow proclamation, the city was hit with phone calls and complaints from people who weren’t satisfied with the snow removal effort.

The city released the results of a 12 question survey. One of the questions asked residents whether they wanted to pay more to improve snow removal operations.

“Two items that we had whether it was from feedback in email or other comments that we received, really centered around driveways, removing snow from berms, from driveways. That was an issue, and the frequency in residential snow plowing. So those were probably the two key issues,” city Public Works Director Chris Fredericksen said.

About 464 online surveys were completed and just under 30 written comments were received from the public.

Fredericksen, outlined the next steps the city is going to take in order to improve next winter and how it may have to update the snow removal policy.

“We will discuss with council and the mayor, and see if we can have a policy that we can bring forward that would make sense with our snow removal polices and how can we fine tune those and make sure we can provide the best service based on the feed back that we received and then we will be ready to go hopefully next November to implement those,” Fredericksen said.
